Hey guys! Welcome back to yet another blog post! I hope you're having a wonderful day and week so far! :D
So for today's blog, I am going to write about some of the reasons that most of the people follow this diet for. I get asked this question a lot and I decided to finally discuss all of those reasons with you guys here! I hope you find this post helpful!
Simply put, a Ketogenic diet is very high in fat, moderate in protein, and very low in carbohydrates. The idea behind Keto is to keep your fat-accumulating hormone, insulin, low by keeping your blood sugar low. In doing so, you turn on fat-burning genes while suppressing the abdominal-fat-amassing machinery.
Eating a high-fat diet means you aren’t getting sufficient glucose as fuel, and glycogen (your glucose backup tank in your liver) eventually becomes depleted.
That shifts your body’s primary fuel source from glucose to fat-derived ketones. You literally burn fat—either dietary fat or body fat—for fuel on a ketogenic diet.

So now that we have established what exactly is this diet, let's discuss some of the numerous health benefits you get when you follow this diet:
The first point is kind of a no-brainer : You lose weight. Big time! Trust me. I personally was never too obese to begin with, so I have lost only around 5 Kgs since I have started with the diet and around an Inch or two from my waist. While that may not seem a big deal, I could never achieve these results via conventional methods like eating salads everyday, working out like a maniac five times a week, cutting down on everything I like and basically making myself miserable. Because Keto uses up fats as fuels, you don't need to actually work out a lot when you're on this diet. It's great if you do, but even if you don't, you still lose weight. And that's pretty darn amazing!
You feel more energetic. Now this is something that varies from person to person, but I personally have noticed a huge difference in my energy levels ever since I have started with this diet. I used to feel tired and lethargic all the time (thanks to my mundane IT job), but now, I feel energetic and that has a positive impact on my mood as well. I get more work done, I am more productive and I have no problem in coming home after a tiring day and then do some cooking, laundry and the other chores around the house! It again might not seem like a big deal, but it makes every day more manageable and better for me! You don't feel as tired even after doing any major chores/work and that's absolutely incredible!
Your acne marks reduce. Now this is a major problem that almost all of us face or have faced sometime or the other. I personally have been suffering from these huge red acne marks since 4 years now, and no amount of skin care can actually heal your skin completely unless you take care of what you eat. Your skin depends a lot on the kind of food you intake and how much water you drink everyday. I drink around 3 liters of Water every day and that along with the food I eat on a Keto diet, have really had a major positive impact in reducing the acne marks and scars on my face.
It helps with conditions like PCOD/PCOS and Thyroid. In today's day and age, quite a lot of people have these hormonal imbalances and that is why it is so important to take care of what you eat. Your diet plays a very important role in reducing these hormonal imbalances, and for me and countless other people, Keto has done that and more. If you're suffering from these hormonal balances, I would highly recommend for you to start with this diet because it will really help you in getting better quicker.
And last but not the least, it also helps in managing conditions like high blood pressure and Diabetes levels. Like I said before, Keto is all about keeping the fat-accumulating hormone, insulin, low by keeping your blood sugar low. And that helps you in managing Diabetes, Cholesterol, Stress levels and Blood Pressure in check. You feel better and that feeling is the absolute best! :D
