Why did I begin with Keto?

Hey Guys! Welcome back to yet another blog! Thank you all so much for all your love and support so far!

Today I am going to be talking about a question which I get asked very often. Why do you follow a Keto based diet? Why not any other diet like a Vegan diet or a Paleo diet etc.?

The basic reason I started following a Keto based diet was my lifestyle. I am a software engineer at Deloitte US India, and as such I often deal with a great deal of stress at work (as we all do, at some point or the other at least). Some people handle it better and some people don't. I unfortunately came in the latter category. Things like an irrational lead and manager sometimes often got the better of me, and I started stressing out a lot. And the way I handle with stress is also quite typical. I eat! I used to order in and go out to eat loads of crap like burgers, pizzas, pastas and god knows what. The stress and the anxiety got to a point where I also started experiencing very painful periods, along with other things like lowered immunity and metabolism. I used to start having painful cramps almost a week before my periods actually began and the pain used to continue till my fourth day. That's almost 11 days every month. Can you even imagine going through something like that each and every month and being unable to handle the thing that was causing it to happen?

A lot of these diets and lifestyles often go in and out of trend. And I always thought, "There is no such thing as a "diet". That's just bull that marketing companies try to sell to market their own products." And while that maybe true (to a certain extent), I had finally come to realise that I needed to do something about my lifestyle and diet or else my health is just going to deteriorate further.

My friend from college, Anshul Augvinash, had been pursuing his Masters in NYC and he had started his online training program on the Keto diet a couple of months back. I used to follow him and his business partner and girlfriend, Kinshuk Sharma and I used to be amazed at how good their clients used to be doing. Losing weight was never a priority for me. Having a balanced and healthy lifestyle was. And I finally saw a "diet" which gave you both! One day, when I was finally tired of feeling like crap day in and day out, I finally contacted them, and they took me on board. And I haven't looked back since!

Its been almost four months since I started my journey with Keto. And it has been the best experience ever! Not only do I eat everything I love (bacon, chicken, fish, prawns, cheese, cream and what not!), I feel good and healthy! My cramps have reduced a lot and my acne marks (which were A LOT!) are also way less prominent. My anxiety has also reduced and I feel a lot energetic and positive than I ever felt before.

This whole experience made me realise the importance of how what you eat can impact your life in so many ways. Without you ever realising. Maybe Keto isn't the diet for you. Maybe Paleo is. Or maybe something else. My advice to you: Find a routine and diet that work for you and stick to them. It's going to change your life for the better!
