Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog post! I hope you guys are doing great and are having an amazing week so far!

For today's blog I am going to be talking about some of the questions I get asked a lot about this diet. People do have a lot of misconceptions and baseless beliefs about this diet and so I thought to address some of them in this post! I hope you find this helpful as well in determining if this diet is for you, or just to know more about this "fad" as many people believe it to be! Well, fad or not, let's find out a little more about this diet shall we?

  • What is the Keto diet?

Put simply, a Keto diet is basically a diet which is high in Fats, low in Carbohydrates and moderate in Proteins. It helps to get the body into a state of nutritional Ketosis. This means that your body will burn it's fat stores instead of sugars. When your body is in this state, you do not depend on insulin or glucose to regulate your energy levels.

  • What can I eat on a Keto diet?

Like I mentioned before, this diet is primarily high in Fats and low in Carbohydrates. Some great options are Seafood (Salmon, Prawns etc.), Grass-fed Meat and Poultry (as they are healthier and contain more nutrients as compared to the regular meat. They are usually not that easily available in India though), Avocados, Cheese, Cream, Butter, Ghee, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil and Low carb vegetables like Spinach, Zucchini, Cauliflower, Cabbage.

Eggs, Cottage Cheese, Almonds, Pumpkin seeds, Olives, Dark Chocolate etc. are some of the other things you can have while on a Keto diet as well.

  • What are the health benefits of Keto?

Weight loss is certainly one of the most popular reasons why many people follow this diet, but it's certainly not the only reason. Some of the benefits I have experienced are a better digestive system, clearer and better skin, reduction in acne scars, reduction in cravings for junk food and food items high in sugar, increased energy levels and a better metabolism.

Keto has also been known to control Thyroid and other such issues, PCOD/PCOS, regulating of blood pressure and in maintaining Diabetes as well.

  • Isnt't high fat intake bad for you?

The answer to this as you most obviously must have guessed is NO! Unlike popular belief, this diet is not going to increase your Cholesterol or Blood Pressure or Sugar levels. In fact, eating a low-carb diet is more likely to lower your HDL (bad cholesterol) levels even more than a low-fat diet does! You are also going to reduce your chances of suffering from heart diseases.

  • Is the Keto diet the same as other fad diets?

The simplest answer to this would be: NO. Not even close. Unlike most fad diets, this diet is not designed as a quick fix for weight loss. It is an absolute lifestyle change that will reset your body for good. It is also backed up by scientific evidence whereas fad diets are not. They can even be harmful to the body, while this diet helps make you healthier all around! Following this diet emphasizes eating real, whole foods to ensure your body is fueled with the best possible ingredients.

And lastly,

  • How to get started with the Keto diet?

My advice would be to do your research and follow pages like "Firefuled.Fitness" and "Firefueled.Food" to get a better idea about different people who do follow this diet and the benefits they have experienced as well as about their journey. Also, do consult your Doctor on whether this diet is going to suit you and how best to follow it. Once you do decide to give it a try, I promise you there's no looking back! :)

So that's it for today's blog guys! I hope you found this helpful! Don't forget to like and Subscribe (if you haven't already!) and I will seen you soon in my next post! Keep Shining! :D
