Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog post! I hope you guys had an incredible weekend and are ready for the long week ahead!

Today I am going to be sharing a Keto-friendly recipe of one of my most favourite dishes in the world - Chicken Momos! Or Dumplings! Or Wontons! Whatever you wanna call it!

I have always struggled to find places that serve good Momos. I don't know why, but it's just so hard for restaurants to get them right! Either they are too oily, or the shape doesn't hold, or the stuffing is too bland, or the after-taste is too weird, or they are too expensive! So when I started with the Keto diet, I was quite miserable because I knew I wouldn't be able to have anything which had Maida (wheat) or which was made out of Wheat. But while researching for recipes for Momos online, I came across some incredible healthy and Keto friendly Momos recipes, which not only taste SO much better than the actual Wheat Momos, but are light, healthy and actually FILL YOU UP! And you will never guess the Core Ingredient which we are going to replace the Wheat with! ;) So without wasting any more time, let's jump right into the recipe!

So for making these delicious Momos, you're going to need:

  • 200gms of Minced Chicken

  • 1 tbsp of Ginger Garlic paste

  • Half a Cabbage

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper

  • Oregano

  • Chili Flakes

  • Coriander Leaves (Optional)

Method:

  1. Peel off the Cabbage Leaves very carefully so that they don't tear.

  2. In a container, take some water and boil it. In the boiling water, add in your Cabbage Leaves and cover it. Cook on a medium flame for about 7 to 10 minutes, or until the Cabbage Leaves have softened.

  3. While the Cabbage Leaves are cooking away, add the Ginger Garlic paste along with the Condiments and Coriander Leaves to the Chicken and mix it well.

  4. Once the Cabbage Leaves are done, remove the Cabbage Leaves from the water.

  5. Now depending on the size of the Momos you want and the size of the Cabbage Leaves present, you can either use one whole Cabbage Leave to make a Momo or tear the leaf in half. It's really up to you!

  6. Add in the Chicken stuffing to each Leaf, and gently fold it or roll it.

  7. On the same container, which you used to boil the Cabbage, put a strainer and add a little oil to it and spread it around. Add the Chicken Momos one by one to it, and cover it and let it cook for about 12-15 minutes. Chicken doesn't take much time to cook and it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to cook one batch of Chicken Momos! Your apparatus should look something like this:

And there you have it! Your delicious Keto Chicken Momos are ready! It really is that simple! Who would have thought that you can make "Momos" out of Cabbage Leaves? Well not me for sure! And honestly guys, the best part about these Momos is that you don't get the taste of Cabbage Leaves per se when you eat these. They honestly do taste like the real ones (even better to be completely honest!) So whether or not you follow a Keto diet, I would highly recommend making these at home and giving them a try! My Momos turned out something like this:

Apologies for the crude photography, but I guess I was just too hungry to bother taking a nicer picture! You can make these Momos in so many different ways too. You can make them using Prawns (the cooking time will be even shorter!), Vegetables or Paneer. The Kitchen is your Oyster! Go wild! :D

PS: In case you prefer Fried Momos over Steamed Momos, instead of steaming the momos, you can take some Olive Oil in a pan and gently stir fry these Momos until they are slightly golden brown. And though I am not a huge fan of fried momos, I absolutely loved these! They were perfectly caramelized and tasted incredible!

So that's it for today's blog guys! I hope you enjoyed today's recipe! Please do let me know your thoughts in the Comments section below and I will see you soon in my next Blog! Keep Shining! :D
