Hey guys! Welcome back to yet another blog post! Hope you all have had a great week and have an exciting long weekend lined up! :D

So for today's blog post I decided to write about a healthy and easy to make Hummus recipe! Now I have made the Hummus using Chickpeas (just like the traditional Hummus is made) and that makes it not-so Keto friendly, but it's still pretty healthy in that it contains the good complex Carbs which fill you up for a long time. You also eat like a spoon or two at a time so it doesn't put you off of Ketosis or anything like that. A third of a cup of Hummus contains approximately 14grams of Carbs, so I think it's quite alright to have it once in a while! But you know, it's totally up to you! If you are not on a Keto diet, then you should DEFINITELY make this recipe as it's absolutely delicious, healthy and so easy to make! It goes with just about anything and everything! :D

In case you're wondering what exactly Hummus is, it's a thick, creamy paste made with mashed Chickpeas originally made in the Middle East. You can use it as a dip for having Pita breads and in Shawarmas and Salads and literally just about anything!

For making this delicious Hummus, you're going to need:

  • 250-300 grams of Chickpeas

  • 3-4 Cloves of Garlic. You can mush them into a paste or just dice them up nicely

  • Olive Oil (lots and lots of it!)

  • Sesame Seeds (around 50 grams)

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

  • Paprika Powder/Red Chili Powder

  • 1 medium sized Lemon

To make the Hummus:

  • Soak the Chickpeas overnight and boil them till they are completely cooked.

  • Take the Sesame seeds and dry roast them for 5 minutes on a pan. Dry roast them till you get a nice aroma and the seeds become slightly brown in colour.

  • Let the seeds cool down and then transfer them into a blender, add two spoons of Olive Oil and blitz them together. This is the Tahini Sauce that we are going to be using for the Hummus and it is a key ingredient for it. Because it's so easy to make at home, I would suggest not to skip it!

  • Take the cooled and cooked Chickpeas in a Food Processor, add in four-five spoons of Olive Oil, the Garlic, the Salt and Pepper, the Paprika Powder, the Tahini Sauce and the lemon juice and start blending them all together.

  • Keep blending the ingredients till you get a nice thick and creamy paste. Add in some Olive Oil if the paste is too thick.

And there you have it! A very easy to make, delicious and absolutely healthy Hummus is now ready! You get an amazing quantity of it which will last you for at least 5-6 days! You can have it in a lot of different ways! I personally love having a spoon or two when I am extremely hungry but it's not time for a meal yet. It's also a great snack to have while binge watching Netflix over the weekend! :D

I added in another spoon of Olive Oil at the top and sprinkled some Paprika on top. Completely optional though! :D

Tip: Store the Hummus in an air tight container in the fridge. The garlic in the Hummus will taste funny if you leave it lying around in the open, especially in the 42 degree Bombay weather! :|

So that's it for today's blog guys! I hope you liked this recipe! As always, do give this post a like if you did and don't forget to Subscribe if you haven't already! I will see you soon in my next post! Keep Shining! :D
